Estimating
ROI of process improvement activity |
Abstract
Process
improvement Models like CMMI are known to provide Return on Investment (ROI)
worth investing in process improvements. However senior executives often
need to know facts in terms of hard and soft dollar savings to sponsor such
effort. Under such situations IT managers prepare business cases to justify
value of process improvements. Since ROI is calculated based on estimates of cost
and benefits of process improvement,
it becomes critical part of the business case. Fair estimate of ROI is key not only to
successful business case, but to success of the effort as well. The process of
estimating ROI is focus of this presentation.
