Estimating ROI of process improvement activity

Abstract

Process improvement Models like CMMI are known to provide Return on Investment (ROI) worth investing in process improvements. However senior executives often need to know facts in terms of hard and soft dollar savings to sponsor such effort. Under such situations IT managers prepare business cases to justify value of process improvements. Since ROI is calculated based on estimates of cost and benefits of process improvement,  it becomes critical part of the business case.  Fair estimate of ROI is key not only to successful business case, but to success of the effort as well. The process of estimating ROI is focus of this presentation.

 

About the Presenter

Anand Paropkari is employed with Patni Computer Systems, and currently working on a process consulting assignment in USA. Anand has over 12 years of experience in the field of quality management and process improvement. He has expertise in models like ISO 9000, CMM, CMMI, Six Sigma and TQM. He has successfully conducted process improvements for Patni and its clients.

·    From I-294 Tri-State Tollway: Exit West on Half Day Road (Route 22). Proceed West on Half Day Road (Route 22) 4 miles, crossing Milwaukee Ave (Rt 21/45). Turn right at the first light west of Milwaukee Ave which is Olde Half Day Road/Barclay Blvd. The Vernon Area Public Library will be the first building on the left and the parking lot is on the left.

 

·    From Route 53: Exit east on Lake Cook Road. Continue east on Lake Cook Road about 5 miles and exit at Milwaukee Ave (Rt 21). Turn left (north) on Milwaukee Ave (Rt. 21) and proceed about 3 miles to Half Day Road (Route 22). Turn left (west) on Half Day Road (Route 22). Turn right at the first light west of Milwaukee Ave which is Olde Half Day Road/Barclay Blvd. The Vernon Area Public Library will be the first building on the left and the parking lot is on the left.
