Implementing Process Improvement

"Process Improvement - It Isn't Just for Software Anymore"
Jeannette M. Ross Riley, Fleet Mortgage Group
As we focus on process improvement initiatives, we come to realize that the techniques we use touch many more aspects of our organizations than simply software development. We will take a look at some of these areas and give a brief summary on how to maximize process improvement efforts by raising the ceiling on the effectiveness of software process improvement techniques. We will also look at the key aspects of successfully introducing process technology into these other areas of our organizations.

"Experiences in using the Personal Software Process at AIS"
Robert Pauwels, Advanced Information Services Inc.

The Personal Software Process (PSP) is a promising approach for improving the quality of work produced by software engineers. While many of the CMM Key Process Areas are targeted to management and the organizational level issues, the PSP addresses the engineering work and shows individual engineers how to improve their process. With teams of engineers "armed" with PSP skills, many of the CMM Key Process Areas can be readily addressed. Advanced Information Services will share their experiences of using the PSP and how it has helped to improve the capabilities of the organization through training and continued support.
