Program: AGILE/SCRUM and QA Framework
Presenter: Srikant Chellappa, eMids Technologies, Inc.
In the last decade Agile Software development has taken hold in enterprise application development environments. There is skepticism that Quality in terms of QA processes is often compromised since Agile is generally adaptive in nature as opposed to Waterfall-based methodologies that are fully planned and predictive in philosophy. This presentation aims to dispel that myth. QA when done right and in the right “self-organizing” team spirit can deliver generally higher levels of quality than traditional methods by incorporating the concept of “continuous quality”; and quality is the team’s responsibility, not just of the QA person standing at the tail end of the assembly line. We will discuss some practical approaches to implementing a proven quality framework with milestones within the Scrum-UP (Unified Process) methodology adopted at eMids, as well as some lessons learned in the process. Scrum-based project delivery in a global or a distributed delivery model requires some creative modifications to the Scrum methodology set forth by Ken Schwaber. At eMids, we use “Unified Scrum”, encompassing best practices from Agile/Scrum, Rational Unified Process (RUP) and PMI project management principles, to best support our global delivery team.

Driving and Parking Directions
From I-90 Northwest Tollway, exit North on Barrington Road. Take Barrington Road to Lakewood Blvd (2nd light) and turn East (right) onto Lakewood Blvd. Turn right into the AT&T Campus Center’s West Employee Entrance (the first entrance past Eagle Way) and follow the signs to the West Parking Structures.
Parking is available in covered lots W2 or W3 as well as upper level parking lot W1. Look for parking spaces towards the west end of the parking structures.
